Mutations Guide: Which Potion on Which Ant

All six mutations, where to get them for free and when to use the removal potion.

Updated

A mutation multiplies an ant's efficiency (EFF). A strong mutation on a good ant can out-earn an unmutated ant one or two rarities higher.

Potions are sold in the Item Shop in the middle of the map. Stock is limited and restocks over time.

Free mutations

  • Vine event — every roll at the top of the vine has a 100% Leaf chance.
  • Index rewards — completing discovery milestones gives Leaf and Bubblegum potions.
  • Strawberry King wheel — Candy and Petal potions are on the wheel.
  • Alien event — UFOs can abduct an ant and return it with Starlight.
  • Candy Rain — ants can roll Candy while it lasts.
  • Ant Packs — pack ants usually arrive with Starlight already.

One mutation per ant

An ant can only hold one mutation. To upgrade, use a Mutation Removal Potion ($100K) first, then apply the better one. This is cheap, so never let a Leaf stop you from putting Petal on your best ant.

Where to use them

  1. Put your best potion on your highest-EFF ant. Multipliers scale with the base, so the same potion is worth far more on a Divine than on an Epic.
  2. Don't buy Leaf or Bubblegum late game — they are only worth it as freebies.
  3. Starlight (5×) costs $5.1Qi. Before that, Petal (3×) is the best value step.
